Profile

Ravza Altuntaş-Çakır is an Assistant Professor at Marmara University's Institute of Middle Eastern and Islamic Countries. Prior to this role, she spent five years working at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University. In 2018, she obtained her PhD in Political Theory at Durham University’s School of Government and International Affairs. Her research interests are in the areas of Islamic political thought, sociology of religion, women’s studies, and comparative political theory. Ravza Altuntaş-Çakır is the author of the book titled "A Political Theory of Muslim Democracy," which was published in 2022 by Edinburgh University Press.
